Sketches

I chose the idiom prompt. I almost did my nephew but I was having a hard time with it. So I decided I would rather do something that involved an eye, and contemplated over whether I should do “the apple of my eye” or “eye of the storm”. I would have gone with “eye of the storm”, but I left all my paints at school, so I worked with what I had. I do think it turned out fine even though I really hate colored pencils. It was a good challenge for me; working with what I’m uncomfortable with.
I chose to do the 6x6 U of I contest. I am really comfortable with this size actually and wish there were opportunities to do small pieces like this in class. It's also the perfect size to do an eye drawing, which is why I picked it. If my whole portfolio could be 6x6s of eye drawings then it would be. This is the first sketchbook project I am really happy with. I was able to show my true style with this one.
is - POP ETC.

The lyrics to this song are like nothing I've ever heard in a song before. The concept of it is endless and beautiful which is why I chose a sky. It's pretty, yet sad so I chose a sunset because while sunsets are pretty, the light is going away and soon the world will be engulfed in darkness. In the song, POP ETC emphasizes the word "harmony" the most, which is what the birds symbolize. The birds have each other in their endless, sad journey.
I chose depict an emotion. The emotion I feel from this picture is tranquility.

Spring Fever:

I painted a thermometer with a vine going up to 100 to show that spring is here! I added sunflowers to the border of the thermometer and used a cloudy sky for the background.
